There are several methods to measure roof pitch however the most popular method is to use a level. Simply raise the level till it has reached the edge of your roof. Then, make a mark on the level where it comes to the edge of the roof. Then, you can measure the distance from the mark until the point at which the level touches the roof. This is the rise. Then, take a measurement from the bottom of the level to the top of the rise measurement. The second measurement is called your run. To determine your roof's pitch, just divide the height of your rise by the length of your run. For example, if your rise is 12 inches and the length of your run is 24 inches, then your pitch would be 12/24 or 0.50 or 50%.

It is also possible to use measuring tape if you don't own a level. To accomplish this, you must first take the tape measure until it is at the edge of the roof. Mark the tape measure on the edge of the roof. Next, measure the distance from the mark to where the roof ends. This is called your rise. Start measuring from the tape measure's edge to the edge of your roof. This second measurement is your run. To determine the pitch of your roof, simply divide your rise by your run, as you did before.

Trigonometry is another way to measure the pitch of your roof. Find two roof points that are at the same level and mark them.

To determine the pitch of your roof you could also employ the level. Find two roof points that are at the same height and mark them. Next, place your level over the marks and find the bubble in the level that is situated between two lines that are on either side of the bubble. The line is the pitch of your roof.

What Instruments are used for measuring Roof Pitch?

There are several instruments that can be used to measure pitch of the roof. A digital level, clinometer or an angle finder can all be used.

Digital level is probably the most simple instrument to measure pitch of the roof. Put the level on the roof and then locate the area between the lines. This is the pitch of your roof.

Clinometer A clinometer can also be used to gauge the pitch of the roof. For a clinometer to be used, you'll require someone to hold the other end of the level at the lower slope, while you sit at the top of the slope. Then, you will be able to look up to the level. The person at the lowest point of the slope will inform you of the number visible in the bubble. This number will represent the pitch of your roof.

Angle Locator:An angle finder can be utilized for measuring the pitch of the roof. Simply place the angle finder at the roof's one side and then glance up on the other. The number visible inside the bubble indicates your roof pitch.

Whichever method you employ to measure pitch of your roof make sure you record the number to be able to refer back to it later on.

You now have the ability to assess the pitch of your roof and can start making plans for the next roofing job. For help, contact an expert roofing contractor.
